It can only be exploited from the same machine or local network, with no action from the victim.\nExploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2026-93168 in the wild and no public exploit code.\n\nAffected product: Linux. No package-level version data is available, so check the vendor advisory linked from the reference page.\n\nTask:\n1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.\n2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.\n3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.\n4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.\n5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.\n\nReference: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-93168/ (Markdown: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-93168/index.md)","id":"CVE-2026-93168","markdown":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-93168/index.md","name":"CVE-2026-93168","record":{"aliases":["AZL-102399","BELL-CVE-2026-93168","DEBIAN-CVE-2026-93168","GHSA-r3mw-x3xp-fjpr","UBUNTU-CVE-2026-93168"],"analysis":{"component_type":"kernel","fix_type":"patch","impacts":["denial_of_service"],"network_reachable":"adjacent_or_local","non_default_config":false,"product_category":"Linux kernel driver","requires_auth":"none","summary":"A flaw in the Xilinx DMA driver causes CPU stalls during timeout conditions, leading to denial of service for local attackers.","user_interaction":"not_required","vuln_class":"denial_of_service"},"analysis_generated_by":"qwen3.8-flash-next","assigner":"Linux","cpe":[],"cvss":{"score":null,"severity":null,"source":null,"vector":null,"version":null},"cwes":[],"description":"In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:\n\ndmaengine: xilinx_dma: Fix CPU stall in xilinx_dma_poll_timeout\n\nCurrently when calling xilinx_dma_poll_timeout with delay_us=0 and a\ncondition that is never fulfilled, the CPU busy-waits for prolonged time\nand the timeout triggers only with a massive delay causing a CPU stall.\n\nThis happens due to a huge underestimation of wall clock time in\npoll_timeout_us_atomic. Commit 7349a69cf312 (\"iopoll: Do not use\ntimekeeping in read_poll_timeout_atomic()\") changed the behavior to no\nlonger use ktime_get at the expense of underestimation of wall clock\ntime which appears to be very large for delay_us=0. Instead of timing\nout after approximately XILINX_DMA_LOOP_COUNT microseconds, the timeout\ntakes XILINX_DMA_LOOP_COUNT * 1000 * (time that the overhead of the for\nloop in poll_timeout_us_atomic takes) which is in the range of several\nminutes for XILINX_DMA_LOOP_COUNT=1000000. Fix this by using a non-zero\nvalue for delay_us. Use delay_us=10 to keep the delay in the hot path of\nstarting DMA transfers minimal but still avoid CPU stalls in case of\nunexpected hardware failures.\n\nOne-off measurement with delay_us=0 causes the cpu to busy wait around 7\nminutes in the timeout case. After applying this patch with delay_us=10\nthe measured timeout was 1053428 microseconds which is roughly\nequivalent to the expected 1000000 microseconds specified in\nXILINX_DMA_LOOP_COUNT.\n\nAdd a constant XILINX_DMA_POLL_DELAY_US for delay_us value.","ecosystems":[],"exploits":{"exploitdb":0,"first_seen":null,"github_poc":0,"max_poc_stars":null,"metasploit":0,"nuclei":0,"refs":[],"tier":"none_known"},"has_fix":true,"headline":"dmaengine: xilinx_dma: Fix CPU stall in xilinx_dma_poll_timeout","id":"CVE-2026-93168","indexable":true,"kev":null,"kind":"cve","links":{"ecosystem":null,"product":null,"products":[],"type":"denial_of_service","year":"2026"},"n_packages":0,"n_references":5,"next":{"headline":"dmaengine: zynqmp_dma: fix race between runtime PM and device removal","id":"CVE-2026-93169"},"packages":[],"prev":{"headline":"csky: Fix a4/a5 restoration in syscall trace path","id":"CVE-2026-93167"},"products":["Linux"],"published":"2026-09-17","related":[],"sources":[{"class":"attribution","licence":"CVE Terms of Use (MITRE)","name":"CVE List","prefix":"CVE"}],"ssvc":{"automatable":null,"exploitation":null,"technical_impact":null},"state":"PUBLISHED","updated":"2026-10-21","vendors":["Linux"]},"summary":"A flaw in the Xilinx DMA driver causes CPU stalls during timeout conditions, leading to denial of service for local attackers.","url":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-93168/"}
