What is CVE-2026-98111?
CVE-2026-98111 is a high-severity memory corruption vulnerability in Linux kernel, published on 25 Sep 2026. It can only be exploited from the same machine or local network, with no action from the victim.
Official description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
Bluetooth: btintel: validate version TLV value lengths
btintel_parse_version_tlv() verifies that a complete TLV is present in the response, but it does not ensure that the value is long enough for the specific TLV type. A short value can therefore cause an out-of-bounds read through get_unaligned_le16(), get_unaligned_le32(), or memcpy().
Reject values shorter than the minimum required by each known TLV type. Also reject responses that do not contain the Command Complete Status field.
Weakness: CWE-125
Which versions are affected by CVE-2026-98111?
It affects 1 product.
Products include Linux kernel.
How do I fix CVE-2026-98111?
Apply the vendor's patch.
Upgrade to the fixed version. Memory-safe languages, compiler hardening and fuzzing prevent most new cases. More about Memory corruption.
Is CVE-2026-98111 being exploited?
There is no known exploitation of CVE-2026-98111 in the wild and no public exploit code.
