What is CVE-2026-98146?
CVE-2026-98146 is a medium-severity denial of service vulnerability in Linux kernel, published on 25 Sep 2026. It can only be exploited from the same machine or local network, with no action from the victim.
Official description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
accel/amdxdna: Remove __counted_by from struct amdxdna_cmd_chain
struct amdxdna_cmd_chain contains a flexible array annotated with __counted_by(command_count). Since the structure is stored in shared AMDXDNA_BO_SHARE memory, userspace can modify command_count concurrently. If command_count is changed to zero, the bounds check generated from __counted_by may fail and trigger a kernel panic.
Remove __counted_by to avoid relying on the userspace-controlled command_count for the flexible array bounds check.
Weakness: CWE-362
Which versions are affected by CVE-2026-98146?
It affects 1 product.
Products include Linux kernel.
How do I fix CVE-2026-98146?
Apply the vendor's patch.
Upgrade, then put limits on request size, rate and nesting depth so one client cannot exhaust the service. More about Denial of service.
Is CVE-2026-98146 being exploited?
There is no known exploitation of CVE-2026-98146 in the wild and no public exploit code.
