No package-level version data is available, so check the vendor advisory linked from the reference page.\n\nTask:\n1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.\n2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.\n3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.\n4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.\n5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.\n\nReference: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-99165/ (Markdown: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-99165/index.md)","id":"CVE-2026-99165","markdown":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-99165/index.md","name":"CVE-2026-99165","record":{"aliases":["AZL-111308","BELL-CVE-2026-99165","DEBIAN-CVE-2026-99165","GHSA-h9p5-q3g4-gm7m","UBUNTU-CVE-2026-99165"],"analysis":null,"analysis_generated_by":null,"assigner":"Linux","cpe":[],"cvss":{"score":null,"severity":null,"source":null,"vector":null,"version":null},"cwes":[],"description":"In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:\n\nsctp: revalidate output stream after association connect wait\n\nWhen message interleaving is enabled, the first send waits for association\nestablishment before building its data chunks.  The wait drops the socket\nlock, and handshake processing can reduce the output stream count to the\npeer-advertised inbound stream count.  sctp_stream_init() then frees the\nextension of every removed stream.\n\nThe sender resumes with the stream that it checked before the wait.  If the\npeer removed that stream, sctp_outq_tail() later dereferences its NULL\nextension.  Fatal-oops policies then panic the host.\n\nKASAN: null-ptr-deref in range [0x38-0x3f]\nRIP: sctp_outq_tail+0x49e/0xaa0\nCall Trace:\n sctp_primitive_SEND\n sctp_sendmsg_to_asoc\n sctp_sendmsg\n\nA range check alone is insufficient.  Stream reconfiguration can grow the\noutput count again while the lock is released without recreating extensions\nfreed by the earlier shrink.  The stream can then be in range while its\nextension remains NULL.  The send-buffer wait has the same issue.\n\nFactor the range and extension checks into a helper and repeat both after\neach send-path wait that drops the socket lock.  Once the lock is\nreacquired, the validation remains stable through data creation and\nqueueing.\n\nIf validation fails after the connect wait, the auto-created association is\nalready established.  Return ESRCH so the existing caller path keeps it\nunder state-machine ownership instead of freeing it directly, which would\nleave protocol, counter and socket state inconsistent.","ecosystems":[],"exploits":{"exploitdb":0,"first_seen":null,"github_poc":0,"max_poc_stars":null,"metasploit":0,"nuclei":0,"refs":[],"tier":"none_known"},"has_fix":true,"headline":"sctp: revalidate output stream after association connect wait","id":"CVE-2026-99165","indexable":true,"kev":null,"kind":"cve","links":{"ecosystem":null,"product":null,"products":[],"type":null,"year":"2026"},"n_packages":0,"n_references":3,"next":{"headline":"net: rds: fix uninitialized trans dereference in CM event handler","id":"CVE-2026-99166"},"packages":[],"prev":{"headline":"spi: imx: fix slab corruption from undersized DMA bounce buffers","id":"CVE-2026-99164"},"products":["Linux"],"published":"2026-10-28","related":[],"sources":[{"class":"attribution","licence":"CVE Terms of Use (MITRE)","name":"CVE List","prefix":"CVE"}],"ssvc":{"automatable":null,"exploitation":null,"technical_impact":null},"state":"PUBLISHED","updated":"2026-10-28","vendors":["Linux"]},"summary":null,"url":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-99165/"}
