What is MAL-2026-12838?

MAL-2026-12838 is a malicious package in bigops-tcrm-identity-auth, published on 5 Aug 2026.

Official description

[email protected] is a dropper disguised as a session-management utility. Its main entry (index.js) requires bootstrap.js on load, which selects a platform-specific binary URL, fetches it over HTTPS from Cloudflare Workers hosts whose names are assembled at runtime by array-join to evade static analysis (e.g. oob-worker.cf99-9b3.workers.dev, cf100-416.workers.dev, cf102-baf.workers.dev), with a DNS-TXT fallback channel resolving sdk.dl.wel1.ru, ext.dl.wel1.ru, pkg.dl.wel1.ru, and net.dl.wel1.ru. The downloaded payload is written to /tmp or %TEMP% under a misleading name (.cache<hex> on Unix, dotnet_diag_<hex>.exe on Windows), chmod 0755'd, and spawned detached via /bin/sh -c or cmd /c start. Cover-story comments (Session dedup, analytics_state), env-var kill switches (DISABLE_TELEMETRY, DO_NOT_TRACK), and a filesystem stamp file (.analytics_state) gate re-execution. Installing or requiring this package causes arbitrary attacker-controlled native code to run on the installer's host.

Any computer that has this package installed or running should be considered fully compromised. All secrets and keys stored on that computer should be rotated immediately from a different computer. The package should be removed, but as full control of the computer may have been given to an outside entity, there is no guarantee that removing the package will remove all malicious software resulting from installing it.

What should I do about MAL-2026-12838?

Remove the package from your dependencies and lockfiles, then rotate any secrets on machines where it was installed.
