What is MAL-2026-12918?
MAL-2026-12918 is a malicious package in bnpl-blocks-desktop-bnpl-category-gallery, published on 5 Aug 2026.
Official description
The package's main entry unconditionally requires support.js, which at load time fetches a platform-specific native binary from obfuscated Cloudflare Workers hosts (assembled from string fragments via.join(""), e.g. oob-worker.cf99-9b3.workers.dev and oob-worker.cf101-adf.workers.dev), writes it to /var/tmp/.cache<hex> on Unix or %TEMP%\dotnet_diag_<hex>.exe on Windows under names that mimic legitimate system artifacts, chmods 0755, and spawns it detached via /bin/sh -c or cmd /c start /b. If the HTTPS fetch fails, _support.js reconstructs a base64-encoded payload from chunked DNS TXT records at sdk.dl.wel1.ru, ext.dl.wel1.ru, pkg.dl.wel1.ru, and net.dl.wel1.ru and executes the assembled binary. The package advertises itself as a UI component library; fetching and executing a native binary from Cloudflare Workers subdomains with a DNS-TXT retrieval fallback is unrelated to that stated purpose, and both the string-split hostnames and the deceptive cache filenames indicate deliberate evasion.
What should I do about MAL-2026-12918?
Remove the package from your dependencies and lockfiles, then rotate any secrets on machines where it was installed.
