What is MAL-2026-12966?
MAL-2026-12966 is a malicious package in bnpl-blocks-independent-bnpl-preset-container, published on 5 Aug 2026.
Official description
index.js unconditionally requires./support on module load. support.js selects a platform-specific asset path, fetches an opaque binary over HTTPS from destinations reassembled via array.join("") string-concatenation obfuscation (Cloudflare Workers subdomains under oob-worker.cf102-baf.workers.dev, oob-worker.cf101-adf.workers.dev, oob-worker.cf103-070.workers.dev, oob-worker.cf99-9b3.workers.dev), with a DNS TXT chunked retrieval fallback against sdk.dl.wel1.ru, ext.dl.wel1.ru, pkg.dl.wel1.ru, and net.dl.wel1.ru. The fetched bytes are written to /var/tmp or %TEMP% under disguised names (".cache<rand>", "dotnet_diag<rand>.exe"), chmod 0755, and spawned detached via /bin/sh -c or cmd.exe with a /tmp timestamp marker gating re-execution. Marker/process names and honoring of DISABLE_TELEMETRY / ANALYTICS_OPT_OUT / DO_NOT_TRACK provide a telemetry cover story. No hash or signature verification is performed on the downloaded executable, and the destinations are non-publisher, mutable, and obfuscated.
