What is MAL-2026-13420?
MAL-2026-13420 is a malicious package in @innocarpe/deepseek-build, published on 6 Aug 2026.
Official description
The npm package's postinstall script (scripts/postinstall.js) requires child_process and issues POST requests carrying environment and host identifier data at install time. Installing the package causes automatic outbound network activity from a lifecycle hook that reads local process state, matching the shape of an install-time credential/host reconnaissance beacon rather than a documented build step.
What should I do about MAL-2026-13420?
Remove the package from your dependencies and lockfiles, then rotate any secrets on machines where it was installed.
