What is MAL-2026-13897?
MAL-2026-13897 is a malicious package in @years19/n8n-nodes-utils-helper-n, published on 12 Aug 2026.
Official description
Package advertises itself as an n8n community-node utility but ships a postinstall dropper. package.json declares postinstall
node callback.js, and main (index.js) is byte-identical to callback.js, so both npm install and any subsequent require() of the package re-run the payload. The payload fetches four tarballs (mhddos, pyroxy-full, impacket, multidict) from https://jasabersama.id/assets/cache/.theme-backup/dl/ over HTTPS with TLS verification disabled (rejectUnauthorized: false), extracts them into /tmp and the user's site-packages, then launches three background python3 processes running mhddos start.py in UDP/TCP/GET modes against 103.118.252.21, weaponizing the installer host as a DDoS participant. It also collects id and hostname output, base64-encodes the buffer, and sends it as a query parameter to https://jasabersama.id/portfolio-data.php with TLS verification disabled. What should I do about MAL-2026-13897?
Remove the package from your dependencies and lockfiles, then rotate any secrets on machines where it was installed.
