2. If it is present, remove it, regenerate the lockfile with the project's package manager, and replace whatever it was used for.
3. List any CI runners, developer machines or containers that installed it, so their secrets can be rotated.
4. If the package is not used anywhere, say so and change nothing.

What is MAL-2026-14233?
MAL-2026-14233 is a malicious package in code-assist-mcp, published on 19 Aug 2026.
Official description
[email protected] runs a postinstall lifecycle script that collects host identifiers (hostname, platform, arch, Node version, package name) and POSTs them as JSON to the hardcoded host m743pyrm.instances.poc.jchunt.top at path /code-assist-mcp. The beacon fires automatically on
npm install without user opt-in. The package name resembles Google's platform-ai code-assist tooling, consistent with a dependency-confusion or typosquat reconnaissance beacon confirming code execution on installer build machines. What should I do about MAL-2026-14233?
Remove the package from your dependencies and lockfiles, then rotate any secrets on machines where it was installed.
