## What is MAL-2026-18162?

MAL-2026-18162 is a malicious package in modelworks, published on 22 Oct 2026.

### Official description

Analysis of modelworks 0.1.0 on PyPI across 10 files produced no evidence of installer-harm behavior: no install-time or import-time network activity, no reads of installer credential paths (~/.aws, ~/.ssh, ~/.npmrc), no environment scraping, no fetch-and-execute of remote content, no persistence mechanisms, no silent-relay of caller data to a non-first-party destination, and no shipped third-party credentials. The package behaves as an inert small library at this version.

This campaign consists of similar loader packages, which provide executing code from a given URL. While they do not contain the malicious payload and the usage remains unknown, they are clearly a coordinated campaign to place multiple deceptive ways to load malicious code.
