What is MAL-2026-18199?
MAL-2026-18199 is a malicious package in @pkgship/frps-linux-amd64, published on 22 Oct 2026.
Official description
Package appears to distribute a platform-specific binary (frps linux-amd64) under a scoped npm name. Only two files were present in scope and no install-time execution, outbound network behavior, credential access, or persistence was observed. No lifecycle scripts, no fetch-and-execute patterns, no hardcoded exfiltration endpoints, and no reads of installer-side secret paths were identified. The package name and contents are consistent with a prebuilt-binary distribution of the frp reverse-proxy server for linux-amd64; the binary itself was not independently inspected within this record.
Any computer that has this package installed or running should be considered fully compromised. All secrets and keys stored on that computer should be rotated immediately from a different computer. The package should be removed, but as full control of the computer may have been given to an outside entity, there is no guarantee that removing the package will remove all malicious software resulting from installing it.
What should I do about MAL-2026-18199?
Remove the package from your dependencies and lockfiles, then rotate any secrets on machines where it was installed.
