What is MAL-2026-18348?

MAL-2026-18348 is a malicious package in ccsec-form-validator, published on 27 Oct 2026.

Official description

Package ccsec-form-validator at version 0.0.0-stage contains two files with no detected malicious behavior. No install-time lifecycle scripts, no outbound network calls to attacker-controlled destinations, no credential or environment variable harvesting, no filesystem persistence, and no obfuscated or fetched-and-executed code paths are present. The version suffix and minimal file count are consistent with a placeholder or pre-release stub rather than a functional package.

Any computer that has this package installed or running should be considered fully compromised. All secrets and keys stored on that computer should be rotated immediately from a different computer. The package should be removed, but as full control of the computer may have been given to an outside entity, there is no guarantee that removing the package will remove all malicious software resulting from installing it.

What should I do about MAL-2026-18348?

Remove the package from your dependencies and lockfiles, then rotate any secrets on machines where it was installed.
